Victoria Kohl is the friendly manager and face of Sano Café on the ground floor of The Atrium Lutwyche retirement living community.

Sano Cafe is the perfect spot for coffee or something more

Victoria Kohl is the friendly manager of Sano Café on the ground floor of The Atrium Lutwyche.

Victoria’s interest in the hospitality industry began at an early age. “I was only nine when I would help my dad in his catering business to serve food at events. This was the start of my passion for the hospitality industry,’’ she says.

“I saw how much joy I was bringing people by just serving food and the joy my dad received when everyone would finish everything on the platters.

“When I was 13, I started a Certificate III in hospitality and my first paid jobs were in a kebab shop and at Red Rooster. After high school, I worked at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane’s CBD in various roles while studying my Diploma in Hospitality Management at South Bank TAFE.’’

After graduating, she worked in a café in the State Government precinct in William Street, becoming café manager, then moved to Sofitel Brisbane and the Treasury Casino as a team leader working with high-profile customers.

In February 2022, Victoria became the manager of Sano Café at The Atrium Lutwyche.

“Here at The Atrium it’s a very different role as I don’t have the demanding clientele from my last few jobs. I just have lovely people wanting good food who don’t demand anything.’’

Victoria says she is still working on the direction she wishes to take Sano and has some ideas.

Sano’s menu is seasonal and Victoria has reduced the number of items offered at lunch as the all-day breakfast menu is very popular with patrons. The café’s cabinet is also filled with a variety of toasties and fresh sandwiches.

The coffee is Campos with a range of different blends on offer.

The café provides a choice of three ready-made meals every fortnight for The Atrium’s residents to reheat at home. Catering for events or a family gathering can be ordered through Sano’s sister café, Kafe Krave, at nearby Windsor.

“Hospitality is my soul, I have always and will always love the highs and lows that hospitality bring, but my favourite thing is the joy on people’s faces when their events go exactly how they want, or their coffee is extra good that day for some reason. I love what I do,’’ Victoria says.

Come in and meet Victoria and the other staff at Sano Café at The Atrium retirement community, 15 High Street, Lutwyche. The café is open to the public. Click here for Sano’s opening hours.
