Here are 5 fun things to do locally

We have come up with five of the best things for residents to see and do around the stunning Toowoomba region.

The verdict is in, we have decided on the top 5 fun things to do in the Darling Downs.  We hope our residents enjoy getting out and about in the Toowoomba region to experience them. If you have discovered something special to do in the Darling Downs, please share it with us at info@auraholdings.com.au

1. Pack a picnic

Head to the aptly named Picnic Point Lookout, not far from Middle Ridge, with its stunning views over the Great Dividing Range and Lockyer Valley. There’s an avenue of mature hoop pines and kauris, and a small waterfall. Find a spot on the parkland’s manicured lawns with escarpment views or a quiet patch under a bunya tree for your picnic. There’s also a café and restaurant.

2. Here’s cheers

Some of the nearest wineries include Preston Peak Wines with a cellar door; Bunnyconellen Wines and Olive Grove – cellar door with gourmet olives, plus cooking schools and long table lunches; Gowrie Mountain Estate has award-winning wines and an underground cellar.

3. Round of golf

The historic Toowoomba Golf Club is one of Queensland’s finest regional courses. The Ninth Middle Ridge retirement community will be constructed within the beautiful 55ha green space on the escarpment.

4. Art spaces

Take Toowoomba’s Street Art Trail to admire the outdoor art gallery where Neil Street has more than 50 murals. The Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery has a very impressive collection of more than 400 artworks including Australian favourites, Frederick McCubbin, Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts and Rupert Bunny.

5. All aboard!

Downs Steam Tourist Railway and Museum at Drayton is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Don’t miss the decorated Dreamtime carriage. Step further back in time at the Cobb+Co Museum in East Toowoomba, with more than 30 horse-drawn carriages on display. The Cobb+Co Café offers delicious freshly baked scones!
