Q&A with Meg – Kingsford Terrace’s Village Manager

Meg is the energetic, fun and big-hearted Village Manager of Kingsford Terrace Corinda, with a wicked sense of humour. We asked Meg some questions about herself and her role so you might get to know her a little better.

How long have you worked at Kingsford Terrace retirement community: A year.

Your roles: I was previously the Sales Consultant now I’m the Village Manager.

What do you like most about your job: The residents! I love listening to all their stories and histories – they are all so different. I’d love to write a book about them – I’d call it Vignettes from the Terrace.

What do you hope to achieve as Village Manager: Help all our residents to really enjoy their decision to move here and live the most wonderful retirement.

What do you like best about KT: The gardens and the sense of space – I just love walking down the long hallway and seeing the camphor laurel framed by the soaring window.

Where did you work previously: I worked in hospitality for a long, fun time then decided to grow up a bit so went into medical sales for about 20 years. But I didn’t grow up!

What do you want to achieve personally: To be able to meditate.

Favourite activities outside work: Cooking, reading, spending time with my family and friends. I’d love to say gardening but really I think I like outsourcing it more.

Where you grew up: I grew up in Yeronga on the river which was fabulous for learning how to sail, waterski, fish and catching mudcrabs. I enjoyed such an idyllic childhood. I’m very lucky.

Where else have you lived: I spent four years in London and used that as a base to travel Europe. I spent another four in North Queensland.

Your best friends: My two sisters – Kate and Jen – we laugh a lot, support each other instinctively and tease our brothers mercilessly.

Your favourite people: I am very close to my family. My parents are great company, fun to hang out with; my husband – who is a funny, gentle and patient man – and my fabulous sons, aged 16 and 19.

Pets: Two labradors – Foxie (who is not foxy at all, just obese) and Nelson (my handsome man), plus a very ungrateful cat.

Food you love to eat: I love everything!  But I really enjoy the clean, sharp freshness of Vietnamese food.

Favourite place to escape: My brother’s Byron Bay farm and its very glamorous house.

Bucket list travel:  I’ve travelled a lot but would like to go to Croatia or have a lazy stay in Positano, Italy.

Future goals: To buy my own farm in the northern NSW hinterland with a veggie patch, dogs, chooks, bees, cows, an alpaca or two and a beautiful view.
