Aura Holdings proudly marked the official opening of the second and final stage of Somerset Indooroopilly yesterday, with over 200 guests, including current and future residents, local dignitaries, and community members, gathering to celebrate this significant milestone.

Aura Holdings’ director Mr Mark Taylor stated that “this has been 7 years in the making.  We first were talking to Indooroopilly Golf Club’s Mike Hume, the late Mike Bowers, Steve Lamerton and the board back in September 2017.

“Today we’ve got an outcome that was in the minds of many previous board members and past presidents.”

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Krista Adams completed the official unveiling, stating that “It’s very exciting to see these types of developments happening now in Brisbane.”

The newly unveiled Stage Two O’Connell buildings have been named in honour of June O’Connell, who was present at the official opening ceremony. June O’Connell has been a prominent figure within the Indooroopilly Golf Club and a former local council member. As one of the longest-serving female members and a past president of the Women’s Committee, June’s contributions have left a lasting impact on the club and the community.

Speaking of Ms O’Connell, Councillor Adams stated “I think that it shows the dedication that you put in as a local councillor, you really do become one of the family in the local area.  Congratulations June, it just shows you how much everyone appreciates everything you have done for the community”.

The completion of Stage Two at Somerset reinforces Aura’s dedication to providing high quality independent living communities in South East Queensland.  In addition to the 88 new apartments spanning over five levels and a community garden, Stage Two features views across the fairways of the Indooroopilly Golf Club and a dedicated golf buggy path for accessibility down to the clubhouse.

Five people stand smiling in front of a covered plaque with a Somerset sign, inside a building. They are dressed in business-casual and formal attire. Plants are visible through the window behind them.
