Retirement living for the 21st century

Aura Holdings is a small southeast Queensland retirement living provider and operator catering to today’s retirees who demand high-quality accommodation.

Directors Tim Russell and Mark Taylor have a combined 35 years’ experience in the retirement living sector and together created Aura with an emphasis on connectedness.

Aura builds ‘vertical-living’ villages in prime locations close to major facilities and has six communities in various stages of development in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Toowoomba.

Tim says he and Mark are both proudly anti-corporate and have an open-door policy for their residents. “Our residents appreciate that they have our phone numbers and call us any time if they have questions or concerns. I think this makes us pretty unique in the industry. We are hands-on operators and enjoy visiting our villages for a cup of tea or a beer with residents.’’

Aura also prides itself on building retirement communities that turn heads. “We don’t create cookie-cutter villages. All our villages have distinct personalities to reflect their location and the people who call it their home,’’ Tim said. “One of the most common comments by visitors to our communities is ‘This looks nothing like retirement village living.’

“We are confident we have created the fairest contracts in the industry. At Aura, there are no hidden costs for small maintenance jobs and when it comes time to sell your apartment our residents share in the capital gain and they won’t pay refurbishment costs.’’

Tim says today’s retirees are discerning and demand bigger and better apartments. “We have listened to our buyers and now provide some of the largest available for retirement living.

“Modern retirees view downsizing as gaining freedom from the maintenance and stress associated with the old family home and garden, yet they don’t want to compromise on their standard of living they’ve worked hard to achieve.’’

Residents of Aura’s communities live independently in their own apartment surrounded by their friendly, like-minded neighbours with support available if needed.

“Our residents are treading their own paths and have no desire for that to lead to a nursing home. Aura partners with quality in-home care provider Five Good Friends and can provide tailored packages so residents can continue living in their own apartment designed for safe ageing in place.’’

The Avenue Maroochydore and The Atrium Lutwyche were completed last year with stage four at Kingsford Terrace Corinda to begin mid-year. Stage one of The Pavilion North Kirra on the southern end of the Gold Coast and the much-anticipated Somerset Indooroopilly within the Indooroopilly Golf Club will be completed this year. Work will commence soon at The Ninth Middle Ridge in Toowoomba.

Aura’s retirement apartments range from $395,000 to $2.8 million.
