What Covid downturn? Record sales for final stage of North Kirra’s retirement village

Wednesday, 29 July 2020

Stage two of North Kirra’s first retirement living community has been approved and already its release to the market has resulted in record sales worth more than $14 million.

The final stage of The Pavilion North Kirra was fast-tracked after the overwhelming popularity of stage one. That stage is currently under construction with 85 per cent of apartments and penthouses sold in the 10-storey development.

Offering stunning ocean views, The Pavilion North Kirra on 3 Lang St is being developed by Queensland retirement living operator Aura Holdings. Stage one is due for completion next year.

City of Gold Coast yesterday officially approved stage two.

The pet-friendly village will provide residents with a high standard of community facilities including a rooftop garden, café, gym, yoga and pilates zone, wine room, billiards room, library, functions room and barbecue area, plus retail space on the ground floor. Stage 2 will include the pool.

Residents will be able to stroll 100m to the North Kirra Surf Club and the beautiful sandy beach or hop on their bikes to head north or south on the extensive oceanfront bikeway.

Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said The Pavilion had quickly found favour with retirees and downsizers seeking quality retirement living in North Kirra.

“It appears everyone wants to be part of this fabulous beachside lifestyle on the southern end of the Gold Coast,’’ Mr Russell said. “Nearly all the stage two apartments will have amazing ocean views and the premium apartments, boasting three bedrooms, a study and walk-in pantry are up to 209sq m in total floor space.’’

Mr Russell said the Covid-19 crisis had exposed the vulnerabilities of many older Australians living in their family homes. “Our residents in Aura’s established communities have expressed their great satisfaction and appreciation of the support they received during the health crisis while many were able to live comfortably with their immediate needs met in their own apartments supported by their village managers, other staff and fellow residents.

“At The Pavilion, all the maintenance will be taken care of so residents can just enjoy their independent beachside lifestyle with support on hand if needed.

“Retirees who are downsizing from the family home are not willing to compromise on the lifestyle they enjoy. But they are seeking a sense of community with like-minded residents, security and they want the very best of communal facilities without any of the associated maintenance.’’

Aura Holdings is currently involved in six projects in various stages of development in southeast Queensland, providing high-quality retirement living apartments.

The Pavilion stage one was designed by O’Neill Architecture and is being built by Woollam Constructions.

A sales office is open on the corner of Douglas and Musgrave streets, Kirra (07) 5536 2865. Deposits are being taken for stage two and the remaining apartments in the first stage.  Stage 2 apartments range from $540,000 to $1.18 million.
