The path to a nursing home need not be inevitable. Many seniors continue to reside in independent living retirement villages by bringing in tailored services ranging from domestic help to palliative care.
Aura Holdings director Tim Russell said many Aura residents had a genuine fear of nursing homes and were seeking an alternative.
“Most of our residents may never need to step foot in a nursing home. We provide a supportive and caring environment amongst like-minded residents with services on hand if needed,’’ he said.
Aura partners with homecare provider Five Good Friends who is revolutionising in-home support. Depending on personal needs, Five Good Friends can provide services from domestic chores to nursing support and palliative care to allow residents to remain living independently in their own apartments. The services can be covered under a government provided Home Care Package or be privately funded.
Aura’s new northside development, The Atrium Lutwyche, provides 59 one, two and three-bedroom independent living apartments. Residents will be able to age the way they want on their own terms with stunning city views.
Mr Russell said the development had quickly found favour with northside retirees and downsizers seeking quality retirement living.
“Our residents want maintenance-free independent living within the area they know and love, with their family and friends nearby. They don’t want to retire to the outskirts of Brisbane without that community connection and quality of life,’’ he said.
The Atrium Lutwyche, a small seven-storey development, is within walking distance of a major bus interchange, shops, restaurants, near the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and 4km from Brisbane City.
A feature of the village will be the rooftop terrace where residents can get together or invite family and friends to share the breathtaking views and lights of the city. Even apartments on the second floor will enjoy unobstructed city views from the elevated site at 11 High St, Lutwyche.
The pet-friendly apartments, finished to a high standard, provide community facilities including a cafe, heated indoor pool, yoga and pilates area, wine room and library.
The Atrium on High St, Lutwyche, will be completed in January 2020.
Apartments range from $435,000 to $720,000. A sales office is open at 2 East St, Lutwyche, (07) 3357 9092.
