Work underway on Mitchell building

Thursday, 9 April 2020

There’s been a hive of activity in the grounds of Kingsford Terrace Corinda in the past month with construction work underway on the Mitchell building.

Excavation and footings are complete, holes dug for essential services and concrete poured for the stage three project at the retirement village in Brisbane’s inner western.

Mitchell will provide something very different for retirees with only 10 spacious three-bedroom apartments. Five apartments will be on the higher level and the five on the ground level will have their own private courtyard gardens. The luxurious apartments have really struck a chord with retirees with nine apartments already sold!

Construction work is being carried out by Hutchinson Builders and it was designed by O’Neil Architecture. Completion is expected by the end of 2020. The builders aim to keep disruptions for residents to a minimum.

Work is also underway on landscaping between the Litchfield and Duporth buildings. Soon the vacant site will be transformed to provide a lovely outlook of green grass and plantings.

The month has been a very challenging time with the Covid-19 pandemic causing chaos in all our lives and the way we live.

At Kingsford Terrace Corinda we have taken strict measures for the safety and protection of all our residents and staff. Sadly, Aura Holdings had to make the difficult decision to close all communal areas of the village including the café, pool, gym, library, billiards room.

Our residents are currently complying with the Federal Government’s recommendations to self isolate. All our wonderful Kingsford Terrace residents can be assured that while they might need to physically isolate, they are not alone.

Village Manager Meg and all staff are doing an amazing job to support our residents by keeping in contact with them and ensuring their daily needs are met. Where needed, they have organised for the delivery of foodstuff, groceries and pharmaceutical items.

All visitors to the village must sign in at the front desk and use the provided hand sanitiser. Any communal areas such as the lifts are regularly sanitised by staff.

While the café is closed, chef Teresa is preparing delicious meals that residents are enjoying in their apartments.

Our wonderful residents have maintained their good humour by keeping busy inside their independent living apartments with craft activities, movies, TV series, puzzles, brain teasers and staying connected by phone or social media with their family, friends and other residents.

While it’s been a challenging time for everyone, our Kingsford Terrace residents know they are in a supportive and caring community. Together we will come through this crisis.

If you wish to speak to Sales Consultant Narelle about the final apartment available in Mitchell or apartments in the Duporth or Litchfield buildings, please call on 07 3716 0804 or email live@kingsfordterrace.com.au
