Stage 5 of Corinda village fast-tracked to meet demand

PRESS RELEASE Thursday, 27 May 2021

Kingsford Terrace Corinda retirement village has fast-tracked construction of its fifth-stage building, Lingrove, due to an overwhelming demand for apartments at the Aura Holdings’ community in Brisbane’s southwest.

The launch of the fourth-stage Francis building was met with such keen interest from retirees that a decision was made to bring forward Lingrove, with construction on both buildings to begin next month. Hutchinson Builders has been appointed to the project designed by O’Neill Architecture.

Aura Holdings’ director Mark Taylor says since the start of 2021 demand for independent-living apartments at Kingsford Terrace has been at a record high for the Brisbane-based retirement provider and operator.

“In the past two months alone, we have sold 16 apartments – it seems everyone wants to retire to Kingsford Terrace! We believe this unprecedented demand is the result of the excellent reputation the village has established in the local area. So many of our buyers are word-of-mouth referrals from our happy residents. Our community of retirees has flourished and as their friends and family visit and experience the lifestyle too, word is out about Kingsford Terrace,’’ Mr Taylor says.

Lingrove is named after the original home built by early settler Robert Francis Hassall between 1882-1883. It later became Lynne Grove and in 1915 was The Corinda Infants’ Home. Lynne Grove, again a family home, stands on Lynne Grove Avenue, Corinda, and is listed on the Brisbane City Council Heritage Register.

Francis honours a remarkable local woman, Angela Francis, and her efforts to improve maternal outcomes amongst mothers and babies in the early European settlement of Brisbane.

Lingrove will offer 30 apartments in one-bedroom, two-bedroom with study, or three-bedroom options, while Francis will provide 18 two and three-bedroom apartments. Retirees who deposit early will have an opportunity to amalgamate floorplans to create larger apartments and secure the sought-after apartments with city views.

Construction of Lingrove and Francis is due to begin on June 14 with the first residents expected to move in during the second half of 2022. The two buildings will provide Brisbane retirees with some of the largest independent-living apartments in Brisbane’s southwest. The apartments that remain for sale range from $590,000 to $980,000.

Mr Taylor says retirees and downsizers are seeking high-quality retirement living in the area they know and love. “Today’s retirees will not compromise on their standard of living so at Aura Holdings we are providing a range of apartments in the sizes they have told us they want.

“Downsizing to them is more about leaving behind all the maintenance of a family home, yard and pool, not about living somewhere without the space for all the things they love. They also want a sense of security surrounded by friendly, like-minded neighbours sharing a high-standard of communal facilities.’’

The pet-friendly village offers residents facilities including a heated indoor pool, café, gym, hairdresser, a stunning cellar to store and enjoy wine, a billiards room, library, dining and functions room and consulting areas for allied health professionals.

Aura Holdings is currently involved in six projects in various stages of development in southeast Queensland, providing high-quality retirement living apartments.

A soil-turning ceremony for stages four and five will be held on site at 260 Cliveden Avenue, Corinda, on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10am. Kate Kefford, a descendant of Angela Francis, will turn the soil to launch construction.
