Chic city living for Brisbane retirees

All Aura Holdings’ retirement living villages are very different, each with their own style and personality. Our latest is The Atrium Lutwyche - and it’s chic and stunning!

Chic city living for Brisbane retirees

All Aura Holdings’ villages are very different, each with their own style and personality to reflect their surroundings and the residents who live there.

The Atrium Lutwyche is the latest completed development from Aura – and it’s chic and stunning! The first residents moved in during February to the seven-storey ‘vertical’ village in Brisbane’s inner northside. The Atrium on High Street offers one, two or three-bedroom apartments with stunning city views.

Viera Tischljar of VT Interiors and Lisa Taylor from Aura Holdings styled The Atrium’s beautiful display apartments. We asked Viera about the designs, furnishings and materials she used to create these showstoppers.

How would you describe the styling choices you have used at The Atrium Lutwyche?

We tried to go for a timeless, classic style with a contemporary twist to give a bit of a colourful edge. Above all, we wanted the space to feel comfortable, liveable and yet still budget conscious.

Where did you get your inspiration for the styling?

With display apartments we don’t have a specific brief from a homeowner so this is where input from Lisa is very helpful and we work as a team. The inspiration can centre around a key piece of furniture, fabric, rug or artwork, then the whole room is created around it. We often find the spark of inspiration from nature or the fashion world. A wonderful source of inspiration is the internet or our Pinterest page.

How does your choice of styling for The Atrium Lutwyche differ from the other Aura Holdings properties you have worked on?

Location of each property is different and they have ranged from coastal to metro, so it is important for the design to be reflective of the surroundings and local feel. The architectural style of buildings also plays a major part in the process, so we strive to create a cohesive look. But elegance, comfort and quality are common attributes in all our designs.

Do you use local brands of furnishings and decorative pieces?

We are lucky here in Brisbane to have wonderful manufacturers. Many of our pieces are custom manufactured and sourced locally, and we are proud to support local businesses to minimise transport costs and emissions when possible. We also have an extensive list of wholesale suppliers of furniture, homewares, rugs, artwork, lighting and fabrics we work with.

What do you like about The Atrium Lutwyche?

The views and natural light are just fantastic. The convenient location and strong community feel have made The Atrium special from the start.

Do you have advice for anyone downsizing who may wish to incorporate a favourite or sentimental piece of furniture in their new, modern, smaller apartment?

It’s important to feel at home in your new abode so we encourage mixing favourite pieces of furniture or art with complementary new finds. There’s no point trying to fit in your oversized old sofa or huge cabinet, but mixing new with old is a way to start. But don’t be afraid of a totally new start.  If it creates a challenge, this is where interior designers can help.

Are you available personally to residents who need advice with decorating their new apartment?

We are more than happy to help with anything from making new cushions, recovering your old comfy armchair in a chic fabric, assisting with sourcing and placement of furniture, custom joinery, window coverings or completely furnish the whole apartment.
